Registration for Online Summer CampMonday:
Science - On our first day of camp, we will explore different aspects related to biology, including an informational session about cell structure and the cell cycle. We will also explore the stages of mitosis and show each of these phases using Oreos and rainbow sprinkles!
creativity to the test by allowing you to create your own levels.
about the various types of graphs and functions. The students will participate in a hands-on graphing activity where they will be given points to plot on a graph. In the end the students will reveal a picture from all the points they have plotted. Then they will use their information on the types of graphs and functions to create their own designs.
Tuesday: Science - For our second day of camp, we will be learning about varying subjects related to chemistry, specifically focusing on the properties of water. Our participants will have the opportunity to create a simple lava lamp and use magic sand to see hydrophobic properties in action!
engineers to produce electricity.
Wednesday: Science - On our third day of camp, we will learn about topics included in environmental science, including climate and weather. After our informational sessions, we will be making a cloud in a jar!
one, and examples of their work. The students will participate in a hands on activity to build aDa Vinci Bridge. A Da Vinci bridge is a model bridge created using household materials like pencils or ice cream sticks. Through out the design, plan, build, test, and rebuild process, we can not only learn the engineering design process, but also many physics concepts, such as force, center of gravity. The goal of the activity is to use your planning and construction skills to build a Da Vinci bridge which can hold the greatest amount of weight. At the end of the session we will see which participant’s bridge can hold the most weight!
Thursday: STEM - On day four, students will participate in a question and answer session related to all fields of STEM. Drop any questions you have in the comments section of the form so we can talk about those as well. Later the floor will be opened up to the audience to ask questions.
Science and Math - On day five, after a brief powerpoint presentation about the properties of water, we will be doing a surface tension lab and graphing our results.
that allows the kids to create a machine that blows bubbles from different waste materials. The activity will allow the students to use their planning skills, engineering and technology concepts and creativity skills… along with having some fun!
